Effinger, George Alec. TYPED NOTE SIGNED (TNS). 1 page, undated, postmark unreadable [but circa 1984- early 1985], to "Dear Miss [Andre] Norton," signed "George." On a picture postcard. Effinger, "a writer of stylish, surrealistic sf stories," (Clute and Nicholls, Encyclopedia of Science Fiction, p. 371) writes to Norton in her capacity as coeditor (with Robert Adams) of the MAGIC IN ITHKAR original anthology series, wondering when he might expect payment for his contribution. "Being a cancer patient eats up a lot of time and money, not having any medical insurance." He then asks whether it's true, as he heard, that they went to the same school in Cleveland, adding he hasn't been back there much. From the 13-cent stamp on the postcard one can date it prior to 17 February 1985. Several small puncture marks in left margin (staple holes?), else fine. (#102324)
