Second edition, revised. First published in Philadelphia in 1932 by Roland Swain. An anthology of classic ghost stories, some with abridgment by Sechrist, marketed as a children's book. "In a few instances there have been certain words, sentences, and occasionally paragraphs omitted from the original versions of these stories." - author's "preface," p. viii. This edition drops two stories,"The Devil and Tom Walker" by Washington Irving and "Thrawn Janet" by Robert Louis Stevenson, and adds two, "The Spectre Bridegroom" by Washington Irving and "The Soul of the Great Bell" by Lafcadio Hearn.
