A NUMBER OF PRINCES IN AMBER [essay]. AUTOGRAPH MANUSCRIPT (AMs). 4 unnumbered leaves, single-spaced, written on rectos only of yellow lined legal paper. Together with TYPED MANUSCRIPT (TMs) of same (re-titled "The Road to Amber"), carbon copy, 6 numbered leaves, double-spaced, typed on rectos only, with author's name and Santa Fe address at upper left corner of first page. Zelazny reminisces about the origin and development of his best-known work, NINE PRINCES IN AMBER and its four sequels. This essay was published in the fanzine KOLVIR, 1980 (Heroic Fiction issue). The autograph manuscript is rather crumpled at top and bottom edges but otherwise very good. The typed manuscript is bumped at the bottom right corners and has a faint carbon smudge on the first page, otherwise fine. (#106861).
