Twelfth of the thirteen volume "Hawthorne's Works, Illustrated Library Edition," comprising twelve volumes published from 1871 to 1876, and a thirteenth volume added in 1882. The first printing was 1000 copies made on 12 September 1876; this copy is bound in green cloth, the primary binding. This is the second printing of the second edition of FANSHAWE, Hawthorne's first book, published in a single printing of 1000 copies in 1828 and reissued, with added material, in an edition of 1000 copies printed 27 May 1876, and the second printing of THE DOLLIVER ROMANCE AND OTHER PIECES which had an earlier 1000-copy print run on 29 May 1876.
