Macauley, original decorated red cloth, front panel stamped in gold and blind, spine panel stamped in gold. First edition. A collection of eight loosely linked stories featuring Dr. Leyden, a collector and supplier of curiosities -- animal, vegetable and mineral -- to museums. The title story, set in Papua, is an effective and enigmatic weird tale. Smith, American Fiction, 1901-1925 R-576. Light wear at spine ends, some rubbing to cloth along bottom edges, top edge of text block dusty, a very good copy. (#115248).
