(#115634) SEA DOGS: A SET OF SEA-COMEDIES. Morley Roberts.

SEA DOGS: A SET OF SEA-COMEDIES. London: Eveleigh Nash, 1910. Octavo, original green cloth with color pictorial paper onlay affixed to front panel. First edition. Seven short stories about the sea and its navigators, several concerning the colorful crew of the Swan of Avon. "The Strange Tale of Billy-be-Damned" is a story about a castaway who tells the Swan crew that all the lands of the earth have sunk into the water: he is mad, obviously, but he tells his story with a persuasive force and attention to detail. An interesting addition to the catastrophe sub-genre, even if rationalized. Hubin (1994), p. 687. Endpapers tanned, some foxing to preliminary and terminal leaves and edges of text block, a bright, near fine copy. (#115634).
