OUR LITTLE TOWN AND OTHER CORNISH TALES AND FANCIES. London: Gibbings & Company, Limited, 1909. Octavo, pp. [i-vi] vii [viii] 1-376 [377-380: ads], original brown cloth, front and spine panels stamped in gold, t.e.g., other edges untrimmed. First edition. A popular book reprinted several times. This first printing is scarce today. The stories here, English regional fiction, were well-regarded by such other authors as Quiller-Couch, who used the same locale in some of his fiction. The present title contains a half-dozen stories that were not reprinted in the 1942 selection (with Q's introduction), CORNISH TALES, including three with supernatural content: "Wisht Wood," "St. Lidgy and the Giant," and "Tram Trist." Lee later co-edited a famous anthology of bad verse, THE STUFFED OWL (1930). Several small stains to cloth, endpapers tanned, a very good copy. (#116848).
