DR. CYCLOPS. New York: Phoenix Press Publishers, . Octavo, pp. [1-8] 9-255 [256: blank], original red cloth, front and spine panels stamped in black, top edge stained yellow green, fore and bottom edges rough trimmed. First edition. Novelization of the 1940 film starring Albert Dekker as the ruthless mad scientist in the Peruvian jungle who uses radioactivity to miniaturize living things, including human beings who are reduced to one fifth their natural size. The novel, often attributed to, but not by, Henry Kuttner, was perhaps written by Alexander Samalman. Kuttner did write a shorter magazine version from the film script which was published in THRILLING WONDER STORIES, June 1940. Reginald 08491. Some age-darkening to edges of paste-downs, slight rubbing to spine ends and corners, a just about near fine copy in near fine dust jacket with mild wear along upper edges, and some glue residue from old jacket protector on inner surface along upper and lower edges. A nice copy. (#126332).
