First separate edition in English. Romantic tale set in fourteenth-century Europe, dealing in part with the plague. A character known as the Werewolf is revealed later to be no such thing. Part of a twelve volume collection of this Flemish author's romances issued by Murphy between 1856 and 1875. COUNT HUGO OF CRAENHOVE was published earlier with other fiction by Conscience by Murphy in 1856. Binding a bit leaned, rubbing to edges of cloth, else a very good copy. (#128389).
