Signed by Howe on the title page. A fourteen-line typewritten letter from Howe to a "Mr. Kauti," dated 19 November 1935, about signing books for him, is tipped onto the front free endpaper. After the book was rejected by several publishers, Howe "printed it a page at a time in his own shop ... [it] went eventually through fifty printings ... [and] remains a landmark in American literature" - DAB. Wright (III) 2802. Touch of rubbing to cloth, a bright, very good or better copy with clean binding and tight inner hinges.
