No. 4 in Duckworth's Greenback Library, which had also featured W. W. Hudson's EL OMBU. The author's third collection of short fiction, with seventeen stories set mostly in South America, plus an interesting preface about the hazards of the artistic life. The author, a Scot, spent most of his youth in South America and produced travel writing that put him in the company of Doughty and Richard Burton.
