The story was first published in EVERYBODY'S MAGAZINE (in 1907?). The first book edition was a paperbound edition published by Ridgeway in New York in 1907. The story was collected in THE JUDGMENT OF EVE AND OTHER STORIES (Hutchinson 1914). Sinclair had strong feminist leanings. Kemp, Mitchell and Trotter, Edwardian Fiction, p. 216.
