A collection of sentimental romances including the morbid "The Tenth of September" and two weirds; "Marm Phoebe's Fortune," a ghost story concerning Salem witchcraft, and "Penhallow," an aesthetic tragedy wherein religious sculpture distorts over time to reflect moral corruption of artist.
