"FEBRUARY" [poem]. TYPED MANUSCRIPT SIGNED (TMsS). Sixteen lines on half sheet of letter size paper, ribbon copy, dated "Apr. 15, 1929" in different typewriter at top left, signed in full by author (black ink, forward slanting hand) at bottom. "Four quatrains of iambic trimeter but with a doubled (six-beat) line in the final position. The poem tries to capture the betwixt-and-between mood of February, too late for winter, too early for spring, a fitting image for a fragile love affair." - Robert Eldridge. Sidney-Fryer, Donald. Emperor of Dreams: a Clark Ashton Smith Bibliography, p. 52, giving its length as 20 lines in Klarkash-Ton and Monstro Ligriv, making this a variant text. Old fold crease, fine. Provenance: Samuel Loveman papers. (#136384).
