The Ahwahnee opened in 1927 and, except for a brief period as a Naval Hospital during World War II, has served as Yosemite's most luxurious lodging place. This history includes details on the design and construction of the hotel as well as general operations, VIP treatments, and service as a military hospital. The 1982 second edition replaces a photograph on page 56 with a "postscript," but is otherwise identical to the first edition. A fine copy. (#138994).
