CATALOGUE OF BOOKS PRINTED FOR PRIVATE CIRCULATION. London: Published by the author, 1906. Octavo, pp. 238, original dark green cloth with printed paper spine label, fore- and bottom edges untrimmed. First collected edition. All of the entries are annotated with a variety of biographical, bibliographical or critical matter. The whole work represents an extraordinary labor of love. The author explains in an introductory note that the first version of his work was published in 1891 with several addenda issued afterwards in wrappers. He notes that the only similar reference book was Martin's (1834; revised edition 1854). He also notes that he would be willing to sell his own collection of "about two thousand" privately printed books "for a very moderate sum." A very good copy generally with a bit of bubbling to cloth, marking of printed paper spine label, and minor foxing to first and last leaves. (#142468).
