WELTBRAND 1950. EIN UTOPISCHER ROMAN. Berlin: Im Verlag der Zeit-Romane, [1932]. Octavo, pp. [1-4] 5-247 [248], original black cloth, front panel stamped in red, spine panel stamped in green. First edition. A right-wing future war novel with the usual racial overtones. The League of Nations fights an apocalyptic war with the Sino-Russian Republic. A terrible weapon destroys the nitrogen in the atmosphere and most humans die. However, a German scientist has foreseen this and has a fleet of secret airships with enough supplies to enable a new generation of Germans to inherit the Earth. Anton Steininger (1898-1968) was the author political propaganda literature, notably the Ostmark trilogy which was published by the Leopold Stocker Verlag, the first two books in 1938, the third in 1939. From 1930, he published short stories and novels that dealt with colonial and war issues, and with National Socialism. He was a member of the NSDAP since 1932.
