THE COMMANDER. Edited by Major Anthony Farrar-Hockley. London: Hollis & Carter, [1957]. Octavo, cloth. First edition. An edited version of the prolific and lively writings by Hamilton on the subject of military command. Hamilton had a wide-ranging, successful career in the army in many outposts of the British empire, coming to an unfortunately ignominious conclusion with the disastrous attempt in World War to invade Turkey at Gallipoli, an attack of which he was the commander. Former owner's ink signature on front free endpaper. A very good copy with a bit of rubbing to gold stamping on spine panel, in a good pictorial dust jacket with minor edge-chipping. (#143486).
