THE MYSTERIOUS AMAZONIA (A BRAZILIAN NOVEL). Translated by J. T. W. Sadler. Rio de Janeiro, Brazil: Livraria-Editora Zelio Valverde, 1944. Octavo, pp. [1-7] 8-263 [264: blank] [note: first leaf is a blank; first and last leaves pasted to free endpapers as issued], original cream wrappers printed in red and black, all edges untrimmed, map endpapers. Wells's THE ISLAND OF DOCTOR MOREAU, was the basis for A Werewolf in Amazonia, a 2005 film directed by Ivan Cardoso. Bleiler (1978), p. 53. Reginald 03668. Cheap pulp paper stock age-darkened, else a fine copy in fine dust jacket. Scarce. (#149004).
