First edition. Five short stories, three of them supernatural ("Ghosts" by Turgenev, "A Miracle in Flanders" by Balzac, "The Venus of Ille" by Merimee), another dealing with insanity. The named translators are Susan Walker Longworth, Eugene F. Bliss and Maria Longworth Storer. According to the anonymous preface, one of the translators compiled the collection. Bleiler (1978), p. 8.
