First edition. Presentation copy with an inscription by Greg on recto of half title leaf: "Albert Greg Esq, / Halton Park, Lancaster / from the Author." Armorial bookplates of John Ronald Greg affixed to front paste-downs; probably a family copy. Scarce first novel by the author ACROSS THE ZODIAC (1880), an important Victorian interplanetary novel. Wolff 2757. Cloth lightly worn at head and tail of spine panel and corner tips, small damp stain to cloth at lower right corner of front cover of volume one, larger stain to upper third of rear cover of volume two, a good, tight copy of an uncommon book.
