First edition. Historical romance set in seventeenth century Spain, mostly involving court intrigues but fantasy element present in hero's possession and use of a cloak of invisibility. The author's self-published first novel, preceded by his three-volume collection TALES OF THE WONDER CLUB (1899-1900).
