Second edition, revised. A later binding with "ELKIN / MATHEWS / & / MARROT" at base of spine panel. The first edition was published at the "Advertiser" Office in Malvern in 1888. According to the author's "note," this new edition "While in substance ... remains as it was first written, it has been so much revised in detail as almost to constitute a new work." Long regional novel of dark deeds and the supernatural set in the Malvern Hills region during the twelfth century. Locke, A Spectrum of Fantasy Volume II, p. 54 and A Spectrum of Fantasy Volume III, p. 165. Not in Bleiler (1948; 1978) or Reginald (1979; 1992). Owner's signature dated 1934 on the front free endpaper. A very good copy. (#151192).
