THE GOLDEN APPLES OF THE SUN. Garden City: Doubleday & Company, Inc., 1953. Octavo, boards. First edition. "Stan" is almost certainly Stanley Kauffmann, his editor at Ballantine Books, and the "upcoming" book is FAHRENHEIT 451, published by Ballantine in October 1953. Collects twenty-two stories including "The Fog Horn," "The Pedestrian," and "A Sound of Thunder." Anatomy of Wonder (1987) 3-62. Bleiler, The Guide to Supernatural Fiction 258. A very good copy in good dust jacket with several short closed tears at edges, light wear to corner tips, and general dust soiling. A nice association copy. (#151259).
