Hunt, that first appeared with an article illustrated by James David Smillie in Picturesque America: or, The Land We Live In. A Delineation by Pen and Pencil ... edited by William Cullen Bryant (New York: D. Appleton and Company, 1872), volume 1, pages [464]-495. The engraving has a watercolor wash applied by hand by Miss Ellen Schell, St. Mary's Academy, Windsor, Dec. 18th, 1875. Image 9 x 12 3/4 inches, overall 12 1/2 x 16 1/2 inches. There is a variant, image size 5 3/16 x 7 7/8 inches, with letterpress below the image. Margins soiled, edges browned from prior matting; very good. Now professionally matted and framed.
