Small octavo, pp. [1-4] 5-7 [8] 9 [10] 11-157 [158: blank] [159-160: ads], inserted frontispiece with illustration by F. J. Widgery, decorated tan cloth, front and spine panels stamped in black and gold, rear panel stamped in black, t.e.g., white endpapers with floral pattern printed in yellow-green. First edition. Devonshire legends and romances, including a couple of old-fashioned ghost stories, sentimental in tone. "Dimpse" is a local dialect term for twilight. Not listed in the standard fantasy checklists. Not in Eaton catalogue. Cloth worn at spine ends and corner tips, hairline cracks along inner hinges, a good copy. A very scarce book. The British Library and other sources date this book 1893, but this copy has a gift inscription dated 1890. (#151807).
