Browne, three-quarter calf and marbled boards. First edition in book form, preceded by an issue in parts. Sensation romance recounting the travels and adventures of a young man seeking the lost will of an elderly relative. There is considerable rationalized supernaturalism. Bleiler (1948), p. 19. Sadleir 21a. Wolff 60a. Calf rubbed, a very good copy. The front panel of an envelope with Ainsworth's signature is laid in. A fairly obscure Ainsworth romance which is uncommon in parts or publisher's cloth. (#154957).
