London and New York: Frederick Warne and Co., 1886. 16.5 cm (small octavo), pp. [1-10] 11 [12] 13-126 [127-128: blank] [note: first and last leaves are blanks used as front and rear paste-downs], 25 illustrations, publisher's pictorial blue cloth, front and spine panels stamped in brown, white and gold, rear panel stamped in brown. First edition, the first printing with the title page dated 1886. Fictional adventures of miners who enter Yosemite Valley in 1851 in search of horses stolen by the Ahwaneechees. Gordon was a very prolific British author of fiction and nonfiction for young readers. And, he translated several books written by Jules Verne. Cloth lightly worn at spine ends and corners, cloth rubbed and a bit soiled, narrow damp stain along fore-edge of front and rear paste-downs, spine dull, a bit of soiling to the text, a good or better copy. OCLC reports 6 copies and there is also a copy at CU-B; no copies reported by COPAC. Quite scarce in the trade. (#155675).
