First edition, a later printing with no date on the title page and "The / Gordon / Library" printed on the spine panel. Fictional adventures of miners who enter Yosemite Valley in 1851 in search of horses stolen by the Ahwaneechees. Gordon was a very prolific British author of fiction and nonfiction for young readers. And, he translated several books written by Jules Verne. Gift inscription on page : "For Walter / with / Gordon's love. / Oct. 4, 1897." Small chips from upper fore-edge margins of pages 111/112 and 113/114, else a clean, very good copy. (#155676).
