Published in both paper wrappers and in cloth, this being one of the latter. Three longish short stories: "Winged Victory," "Taken In At Oare's," and "A Venetian Payment." Three of Bates' books (all set in the American West) are listed in Wright, American Fiction 1976-1900, but not this title. Two of the stories are reincarnation fantasties, one involving psychic detection, the other is a fantastic adventure story set in the Far West (Puget Sound). Ex-library copy (Louisville Free Public Library) with usual stamps and bookplates, cloth worn at spine ends and corner tips, inner front hinge cracked but holding tight, a sound, good copy.
