A revised version of MYSTERIOUS MARTIN ... (Ogilvie 1912), the author's first book. A macabre tale of an insane novelist who causes and commits murders to depict in his writings. The tale was revised and collected in SILENT, WHITE AND BEAUTIFUL AND OTHER STORIES (1920) as "For Art's Sake" and published with further revisions as a separate book by Philip Allan in 1933 as THE MASTER OF MURDER.
