First edition, first printing. 2425 copies printed. Published in late December 1851, simultaneous with or several days before the first British edition published by Henry G. Bohn with a title page dated 1851. Hawthorne's third major collection of sketches and tales includes five fantasy stories: "The Snow-Image: A Childish Miracle," "Ethan Brand," "The Man of Adamant," a ghost story, "The Devil in Manuscript," and "My Kinsman, Major Molineux."
