Photograph by Carleton E. Watkins (1829-1916) of Mount Conness, a 12,590 foot mountain on the northeastern boundary of Yosemite National Park adjacent to the Inyo National Forest. The photograph was taken in September 1890 during the third and longest occupation of the peak by the western division of the United States Coast and Geodetic Survey directed by George Davidson, Watkins' friend and patron.
