All the photographs measure approximately 5x8 inches vertically or 8x5 inches horizontally; each is captioned and numbered in the lower margin of the image. Album page size is approximately 6 3/4 x 11 inches. An exceptional album of Taber photographs illustrating a California grand tour from one end of the state to the other. The subjects of fifteen photographs are the Yosemite Valley and the Mariposa and Calaveras big tree groves. The other subjects include San Francisco, points north of San Francisco (Geysers, Mt. Shasta and Castle Crags), south of San Francisco (Santa Cruz, Monterey, Carmel Mission), and Southern California (including photographs of Hotel Del Monte and Hotel del Coronado).
