First edition, second state bound in black boards with top edge not stained and with pages 240 and 241 printed in proper sequence. Hardbound issue limited to 640 copies. A presentation copy with signed inscription to an unnamed recipient [it is Tor Senior Editor David G. Hartwell] on the title page: "For the Man who / took the Bones / home and made them / happy (and hearty) / My Very Great thanks, / Jonathan / 28.10.86 / London." Hartwell published the U.S. edition of Carroll's BONES OF THE MOON in 1988 while an editor at Arbor House. The Arbor House edition differs slightly from the 1987 Century edition, adding several paragraphs to the novel's conclusion.
