MYSTERIES OF DESTINY ISLAND; OR CHAMPLAIN VALLEY AND SETTLERS AND FUTURE. By D. Alld, Author of What Courage Will Do. N.p. n.d. Octavo, pp. [1-3] 4-82, original salmon wrappers printed in black, side stapled. First edition. A dream of the future in which the United States has evolved into a technologically advanced religious utopia. Republican and Christian values prevail and "foreign" influence on culture and religion are curtailed. The story, published circa 1898-1900 (the late war in Cuba is mentioned on page 11), is set in the Champlain Valley of northeastern New York and western Vermont. Not in Cole or Plum. Wrappers worn at edges, rear wrapper has some fading and some insect tracking along edges, a very good copy. Rare. OCLC reports two copies (SUNY-Plattsburgh and University of Vermont). No other copies are known to us. (#160959).
No statement of printing.
