PLANETS FOR SALE. Hull, Mayne.

PLANETS FOR SALE. New York: Frederick Fell, Inc., Publishers, [1954]. Octavo, boards. First edition. An old-fashioned space opera featuring Artur Blord, a ruthless business tycoon who is plundering an entire galaxy. "A startling story of red-blooded adventure among the Ridge Stars -- a galactic system where men bribed, stole and murdered with the same casualness with which they made their billions -- and took their women." - publisher's flap copy. A novelization of five of the six stories about Blord by E. Mayne Hull first published in ASTOUNDING SCIENCE FICTION in partial collaboration with van Vogt. It is probable that van Vogt is responsible for the novelization. Title page of the 1954 Fell edition credits E. Mayne Hull only. Novel was reissued in 1965 by the Book Company of America of Beverly Hills attributing the work to both authors. See van Vogt, Reflections, pp. 75-6. Mild rubs to lower edges of boards, else a fine copy in very good dust jacket with light wear at lower spine end and front corner tips and some rubbing along front flap fold. A nice copy; better than usually found. (#162355).
