Small octavo, pp. [1-8: ads] [1-5] 6-127 [128] [1-8: ads], first and last leaves used as front and rear paste-downs, folded plate with music and text of "The Song of the Free" with words by George Coolidge, woodcut illustrations, some full page, in the text, original decorated blue cloth, front and spine panel stamped in gold and blind, rear panel stamped in blind, all edges gilt. First edition. Considerable patriotic content, songs, poems, chronology of the American Civil War and events leading to the conflict, 1860-1862. Includes poems by James Russell Lowell, John Greenleaf Whittier, and others. Coolidge's almanac was published for the years 1862 through 1871. Professionally re-cased, small ink stain on top edge of a few leaves, a very good copy. OCLC reports 4 copies. Another copy, apparently missing several pages, is held by AAS. Scarce. (#162764).
