Matthew White, Jr. (1857-1940) was the editor of ARGOSY from 1886 to 1928 -- an amazing tenure! -- and he set its editorial direction. This is probably the first hardcover edition of this boys' story, perhaps preceded by an 1891 paperbound subscription library edition. It does precede the David McKay edition. Cloth just a bit dust soiled, but a bright, very good copy. Very scarce. (#162784).
