Josef Nesvadba (1926 -2005), a Czech psychiatrist and writer, is best known in the English-speaking world for his SF short stories, some translated into English and collected in VAMPIRES LTD. STORIES OF SCIENCE AND FANTASY (1964) and the abridged collections IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF THE ABOMINABLE SNOWMAN (1970, a.k.a. THE LOST FACE (1971). Nesvadba was perhaps the leading Czech SF writer of the late twentieth century. This book is copyright 1961, but Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin reports an edition published in Praha by Mladá Fronta in 1960 (Kapka, 33). The only holding reported for this Nase Vojsko edition is the National Library of the Czech Republic (Prague). Overlapping cover edges lightly worn, pulpy text paper tanned, a very good copy.
