This historical novel, dedicated by Derleth to Sinclair Lewis, "covers the period 1839-1848 in the Sac Prairie Saga, when the area was changing from a mining and fur-trading region into a primarily agricultural one." - Wilson. Top edge stain faded, endpapers just a bit tanned along gutter margins, else a fine copy in very good pictorial dust jacket priced $2.50 on the front flap with light wear along top and bottom edges, mainly spine ends and corner tips, and several very short closed tears at edges.
