"Master of the Macabre, A" In: READING AND COLLECTING: A MONTHLY REVIEW OF RARE AND RECENT BOOKS. August 1937 (volume 1, number 9). Chicago: Edited and Published by Ben Abramson, August 1937 (volume 1, number 9). Large octavo, single issue, pictorial wrappers, stapled. A four-column article on H. P. Lovecraft, prompted by the publication of the Visionary Publishing Company's edition of Lovecraft's THE SHADOW OVER INNSMOUTH in April 1936, which Derleth calls "a incompetently proofed and badly printed ... Literoddity which will be long sought after by students and lovers of the macabre in fiction ..." A scarce bedsheet-size magazine that appears to have been the house organ of Chicago's The Argus Book Shop. A very good copy. (#164388).
