[1896?]. 17 x 25 cm, pp. [1-50] [note: first leaf is a blank] (not paginated), 19 illustrations, original pictorial light brown wrappers printed in dark brown, brown cloth tape spine, side stapled. First edition, third printing. The work was first published in 1896; the date of this third and last printing is not known. Printer's imprint on rear cover: "Kitchener Print, 565 13th St., Oakland, Cal." "These letters, written at intervals during my stay in Yosemite, to husband and friends who remained at home, were not intended for the public." - preface. A personal narrative, written in an affected and artificial prose style, describing a week's stay in Yosemite, which included a trip by horseback to Clouds Rest and a visit to the Mariposa Grove. The trip into the valley was by stage from Raymond by way of Wawona and Inspiration Point and the return was by the same route. Morse stayed at the Stoneman House. Morse was editor of THE COMING LIGHT (1898-1899), which merged into the ARENA. Currey and Kruska 254. Wrappers soiled and stained, fore-edge corners of front wrapper chipped, a good copy. (#164835).
