(Fourth session of the California State Legislature.) John Boardman Trask (1823 or 1824 - 1879), born in Roxbury, Massachusetts, emigrated to California in 1849. He was California's unofficial first State Geologist. This is the first of his reports, all of which focused on economic geography. He was a cofounder of the California Academy of Natural Sciences, established in April 1853. First and last leaves dusty, a very good copy. (#164915).
