[Yosemite National Park] An album of photographs recording a vacation in Yosemite National Park in 1901, a mixture of professional photographs, many by George Fiske, and photographs taken by the visitors. Approximately 135 photographs of various sizes, mostly 19x11 cm (7 1/2x4 1/2 inches) and 8.5x8.5 cm (3 3/8x3 3/8 inches), on stiff black card mounts, most captioned. The album, suede over boards, measures 25x32 cm (10x12 inches). Album title on rear cover is "Yosemite 1901." Many of the photographs were taken by George Fiske, and his imprint is present on some of them. Other professional photographs are not attributed. The smaller images appear to be the work of a member or members of the tourist party (one image of their picture taking is present). The party of three traveled to Yosemite Valley by way of the Big Oak Flat Road. The images include a number of photographs taken in and around Crocker's Station. An excellent record of a visit to Yosemite at the turn of the twentieth century combining professional with very accomplished amateur photography. The interior is detached from the album cover, one suede tie still present, some light wear and staining to covers, some rippling to mounts, several mounts are loose; all photographs are very good or better, several have varying degrees of tarnish and fading.
