"The Angel of the Earthquake" is a short tale set in the near future concerning a destructive and deadly imaginary earthquake in Wellington in 1910 and its chaotic aftermath told by an eighty year old survivor in 1960. "The Angel of the Earthquake" was Andrew Waterton, a heroic member of the Vigilance Corps, a militia formed by the citizens of Wellington to restore order after the earthquake.
