(#165994) Nature's splendor [cover title]. Advertising booklet, GORDON BREAD CO.

Nature's splendor [cover title]. Los Angeles, Calif. Gordon Bread Co., n.d. [1930s]. 16.4x13.7 cm (octavo), pp. [1-16] (not paginated), cover illustration by C. Rosner, original pictorial self wrappers, stapled. An album promoting the Gordon Bread Company to be filled "with beautiful colored pictures by buying Gordon's Finest Bread ... one picture wrapped with each loaf of bread." There are no pictures present or pasted into this copy. The text describes America's scenic wonders and tourist destinations, which include the giant sequoia of California, Mt. Whitney and Yosemite National Park. One of the featured places is Lake Placid, New York, site of the 1932 Winter Olympics, so this booklet was published in 1932 or later. The booklet promotes traveling in America rather than abroad. Images of several of the cards can be found on the Internet. The Gordon Bread Company also produced booklets for the missions of California (copies at Yale University and The Autry Museum of the American West) and for dogs. A fine copy. No copies reported by OCLC. (#165994).
