First edition. Clark's last book was primarily a guide to the principal rock formations, waterfalls, animals, and plants of Yosemite Valley. It includes his theory on the formation of the valley and a brief account of its discovery and transformation into a popular tourist attraction. Shortly after the completed manuscript of this book was delivered to the publisher who issued it the following year, Clark, aged 96, died of bronchia. Includes a 7-page "Introduction and Sketch of the Author," by Clark's longtime friend Ben C. Truman. Neat owner's name on front free endpaper and name and date (12 February 1912) on recto of first blank. A fine copy. (#166027).
