The proposed John Muir-Kings Canyon National Park ... [cover title]. New York: Emergency Conservation Committee, January 1939. 23 cm, pp. [1-4] 1-9 [9a-9b] 10-20 [21-22], 10 illustrations (including cover illustrations), 2 maps, pictorial self wrappers, stapled. First edition. At head of title: "Publication No. 74." A pamphlet endorsing the Gearhart Bill to create a national park encompassing Kings Canyon, Redwood Mountain and General Grant National Park. Congress passed an amended bill on March 4, 1940 creating Kings Canyon National Park which included the four square mile General Grant National Park. The bill also provided that the President, by proclamation, might add certain public lands to the General Grant Grove section. On June 21, 1940 such a proclamation added several sections along the General's Highway including the Redwood Mountain and Canyon area. A fine copy. (#166032).
