Fifty-seven-year index Sierra Club Bulletin, 1893-1949 compiled by Dorothy H. Bradley and George Shocat. San Francisco: Sierra Club, 1952. 23.4x15.5 cm, pp. [i-vi] 1-138, original red cloth, spine panel stamped in gold. First edition. Indexes the contents of the semiannual, after 1913 annual, numbers of the Bulletin through 1949 by volume and by author. Provides separate indexes to names and subjects, as well as an index to book reviews arranged alphabetically by author and by title. The Sierra Club Bulletin is the single most important source of information on the human and natural history of the High Sierra. It is a primary source for narratives of exploration and early mountaineering in the Sierra and for information on conservation issues affecting the range. Additionally, it is the major repository for articles on Sierra history, geology, wildlife, and flora. For a continuation of the Bulletin index see Edward Brooks Brazee, An Index to the Sierra Club Bulletin 1950-1976 (1978). A fine copy without dust jacket as issued. Accompanied by paperbound supplements for 1950-1952 (1952) and 1953-1955 (1955). (#166151).
